ICT 4 Life Support FAQ
• ICT 4 Life - or ICT4Life - UNC share: Administration setup [15/10/2008]
Why can't you set ICT 4 Life - or ICT4Life - up with a UNC share?*** UPDATE *** This issue has been addressed in the 2009 upgrade, and a wmv video pack is now available that allows the product to run in its entirety over a UNC share. *** This issue is not actually anything to do with the application. Microsoft and Adobe security settings currently stop video files in the flv format running over a local UNC share. As the course includes video presentations and teaching materials, these won't run if you're set up on a UNC - you'll just see a black screen. Microsoft's solution to this is to require that the drive the video is being delivered from is mapped. This doesn't affect videos running in the wmv format - but as the video in ICT 4 Life is embedded in the Flash interface, it has to be in the flv format. Some users have been exasperated by the fact that wmv videos will play over a UNC share, while ours will not, but wmv videos cannot be embedded in a Flash interface. |
